MTAM Spring Conference - Music Therapy Reimbursement: Best Practices and Procedures

Judy Simpson, MHP, MT-BC is the Director of Government Relations for the American Music Therapy Association. She is the co-author of Music Therapy Reimbursement: Best Practices and Procedures, in collaboration with Debra Burns. Judy has over 20 years experience in music therapy practice, clinical training and supervision, government relations, and association leadership.


Learning Objectives:

Participants will identify primary sources of healthcare reimbursement and demonstrate awareness of music therapy coverage from each source. Participants will demonstrate understanding of the steps required when seeking reimbursement for music therapy services from private insurance companies. Participants will be able to list coding systems and define common terminology used within the insurance industry. Participants will demonstrate knowledge of professional resources and tools recommended for pursuing third party coverage. Prerequisite: None


"Music Therapy Reimbursement: Best Practices and Procedures" is approved by CBMT for (5)continuing education credits. MTAM provider #P-052 maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.

Midwestern Regional Conference in Iowa City on March 30-April 1
This conference will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the music therapy program at the University of Iowa and will feature the Iowa Lecture Series. This will be on top of the regular conference sessions and a complimentary opening night banquet.
